Tassels

Chinese cabinetry arose from the fact that homes were not designed with closets or other built-in storage. Wide moon chests were designed to lay silk robes flat since hangers were not used. Wedding chests held a new bride’s dowry. Traditional medicine cabinets had numerous small drawers; each labeled for the herb or animal part used to treat various ailments. Tassels hung from the handles of all of this cabinetry as decoration and to make it easier to open smaller knobs.

Our original designs combine handmade silk tassels and knots in a variety of colors, topped with different stone pendants—every one of which carries its own special motif and symbolism. Each tassel provides a unique dynastic flare to accent cabinetry, drawers, chests, wall sconces, and other fixtures.
